BUDAPEST
Located in the eastem European country of Hungary, the capital city of Budapest is the seventh largest city in the European Union. The city itself is split from north to south by the River Danube, with the ancient settlements of Buda on one bank and Pest on the other. Buda is hilly and generally regarded as a residential area offering recreational activities. Pest, on the other hand,is flat and while home to many, also has commercial and industrial areas.
With its eclectic mix of architectural styles, the neo-Gothic Parliament and Romanesque Matthias Church to name but two, Budapest has something to please everyone. It is a popular destination,enjoying a lively café culture and attracting over 2.5 million tourists a year. This is not surprising though as it is a fascinating place to explore both during the day and at night. With a rich and diverse history, an intriguing mix of old and new, as well as an abundance of cultural sights and experiences to enjoy, it really is worth a visit.
