This amazing capital is a World Heritage Site and includes attractions such as the Roman city of Aquincum, the Gothic castle of Buda, the Banks of the Danube and Andrássy Avenue, a famously elegant avenue built to link the city centre to the city park and showcasing some of the city's finest palaces and houses.
Budapest is also a prominent city and its location in the centre of Europe makes it a major road and rail intersection. Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is less than five hours away whilst Vienna, the beautiful capital city of Austria, is just three hours.
As well as being a beautiful and well-positioned city, Budapest is unique in that it is the only world capital to have hot springs, around a hundred of them in fact. However, these springs are not only famous for the health benefits that the minerals they contain bring, but also for having led to the creation of a spectacular cave system under the hills of Buda.
