Fast forward to the 21st century and we enter a period characterised by increased technological interconnectivity. Communication has become significantly easier with the increase in Information and Communication Technology, the intemet, mobile technologies, and social media. This has made possible access to all types of necessary information, leading to an increase in interactivity between people from different continents and countries of the world, providing the possibility of developing their skills and abilities for teleworking, multicultural interaction, access to information, knowledge and education.
One further factor underlying the rise in globalisation is increased free trade. The reduction in tariffs or trade barriers has encouraged global business. Often this has occurred through the support of the World Trade Organisation and the European Union.
