What is the origin of the evidence?Homelessness is still a major issue in Australia because policy makers haven't made a concerted effort to fund and commit to one particular project for an appropriate length of time. This is clear from research that has analyzed the history of homelessness programs in recent years. Parsell, Jones & Head draw on an extensive list of published articles and government reports analyzing homelessness programs in the UK, USA and Australia to conclude that "[a]ttracted by the successes in the UK and USA, Australian policy makers attempted a piecemeal transfer making it unlikely that the goal of permanently ending homelessness will be achieved" (Parsell, Jones & Head, 2012)
