Then they told the managers to take a short vacation. After the managers came home, the researchers measured their stress levels again. The managers' stress levels were, of course, much lower. The researchers kept measuring every day. They found that the managers continued to have lower stress levels. In fact,they still felt good six weeks after their vacations. Other research suggests that just planning a trip can improve your mood. A 2014 study showed that people feel less stressed just thinking about possible trips. They feel happy even if those trips don't really take place. In other words, people feel good weeks before and weeks after taking a vacation.
