Read the following excerpt taken from Reading passage 2:
4. Netflix is a world leader in streaming media, providing its service in nearly 200 countries. But at first, it was a company that provided movie rentals. Unlike traditional movie rental businesses, such as Blockbuster, Netflix was a bit different: For a monthly fee, which was usually less than people were already paying to rent movies, the company sent subscribers movies directly to their homes, as many movies as they wanted. Most subscribers did not mind waiting, and they were able to select the movies through the Internet, something that other companies did not offer. At this point, Netflix's customers were different from Blockbuster's customers; therefore, a new market was created.
5. Netflix is a good example of a disruptive startup because it found a cheaper way for customers to rent movies, it created a new market for movie renting, and it used technology to do so. After much success in the new market, it began to compete with the more traditional companies and took away their business, too.
